He may be a Gator now, but former Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin has not forgotten his roots.
Stricklin officially took over for long-time AD Jeremy Foley in Gainesville on Tuesday, and is attending his first football game as the “official” Gators athletic director on Saturday.
That game just happens to be in Fayetteville against Arkansas, which also just happens to have celebrated a dramatic overtime victory against Ole Miss last season. Stricklin, who went to school at Mississippi State and has deep roots in the Egg Bowl rivalry, took note of a particular piece of art on the wall at his hotel on Friday evening.
Gators have arrived in Arkansas. Here’s a pic of random Hog memorabilia in our hotel lobby. Don’t know the story but looks interesting. pic.twitter.com/w1kaONJWPw

In case you may have forgotten, Arkansas beat Ole Miss 53-52 after a crazy play on a 4th and 25 resulted in a first-down for the Razorbacks, who went on to score later in that drive for an overtime victory in Oxford. And while Mississippi State was not directly involved in that contest, you can bet that Bulldogs fans were tickled pink about the outcome of that game.
You can relive that magic here:
