GAINESVILLE, Fla. — It looks like the Gators found themselves a kicker.
On the second drive of Florida’s spring game, UF coach Jim McElwain sent out new kicker Eddy Pineiro for a 52-yarder.
It was the first-ever field goal attempt in a football game for the former soccer player, and he absolutely drilled it.

McElwain planned to put pressure on Pineiro (see here) after testing him all spring in practice. The nation’s No. 1 junior college kicker went viral last year with his 77-yard field goal.
“We’ve got to see Eddy kick in front of people and not on his YouTube,” McElwain said. “This is kind of an important deal there.”
Pineiro, who made a 46-yarder in the second quarter, passed his first test as a Gator on Friday.
