Jalen Tabor is still rated as one of the best cornerbacks is the draft, but one NFL executive says he’s not the best on his own team.
According to a report from Daniel Jeremiah on NFL.com, the unnamed executive has fellow junior Quincy Wilson as a better pick.
“I think Wilson is the best corner in the country. Tabor gets all of the hype but Wilson is better in every area,” the executive said.
In Jeremiah’s article, though, five executives were asked to name the defensive back they were most excited to see in Saturday’s game between the Gators and LSU. Of the five, only one took Wilson, with three picking LSU safety Jamal Adams and another saying LSU cornerback Tre’Davious White.
Wilson has two interceptions this season, while Tabor has three. The pair is filling in quite nicely after the departure of Vernon Hargreaves, who was picked 11th by Tampa Bay in April’s 2016 draft.
Tabor is still slated as the top cornerback in the CBSsports.com rankings, and is projected as a first-round pick. Sports Illustrated has Tabor as pick No. 6 to Miami in its latest mock draft. Neither has Wilson rated.
