GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida will hold its first full scrimmage of the spring Thursday in The Swamp.
Following practice, the coaches and players plan to take a few days off for Easter weekend.
A handful of UF players will miss the scrimmage due to injury. Wide receivers Ahmad Fulwood and Dre Massey as well as running back Jordan Scarlett are all out with minor leg injuries, center Cam Dillard has a broken nose and defensive end Justus Reed is sick.
Jim McElwain is ready to see what the newcomers can do in their absence.
“For some guys, this is their first time in The Swamp,” McElwain said, referring to receivers Joshua Hammond and Freddie Swain, tailback Mark Thompson and defensive end Jordan Smith. He added that true freshmen quarterbacks Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask will receive first-team reps.
