Former Florida DT Ray McDonald is no longer facing rape charges after a judge in California dismissed the case against him.
Prosecutors had to drop the charges after the alleged victim decided not to testify, according to The Mercury News’ Tracey Kaplan. McDonald recently reached a civil settlement with the woman, which will pay her $100,000. A Santa Clara County Superior Court judge dismissed the case Monday morning.
The woman had accused McDonald of sexually assaulting her at his home in San Jose, Calif., in December 2014. She claimed she slipped and fell on the deck by his pool and fell unconscious. According to her, McDonald then took her to his bedroom and raped her.
McDonald was released by the 49ers shortly after the alleged incident. He signed with the Chicago Bears in March 2015, but was released in May following his arrest on domestic violence charges.
McDonald played at Florida from 2003-2006. He was drafted by San Francisco in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
