GAINESVILLE, Fla. — KeVaughn Allen scored a game-high 24 points Saturday night to help Florida to a huge 72-66 win over No. 12 Auburn, but there was one shot in particular that had everybody talking afterward.
Taking the inbounds pass from the far baseline with less than 3 seconds to go in the first half, Allen took a few steps, launched the ball high into the air and swished in the 65-foot heave at the buzzer.
It was his third straight 3-pointer to end the half, setting the tone for his — and the Gators’ — big night. He finished by making 8 of his last 10 shots and hit 6 3-pointers overall.
Here’s a look at the shot from several angles:

Here’s Allen talking about the shot and his big game, soft-spoken and laid back as always:
And here’s what Allen and others said about it afterward:
Allen: “I was surprised that it went in because from the angle that I was at it didn’t look like it was about to go in at all. But it looked like it curved at the last second. The play was just to get it in and get a shot up, and luckily I got it and threw it up and it went in.”
More from Allen: “I felt like I was going to airball it. It looked like it was going wide left, but then at the last second it like curved right and went in.”
Florida coach Mike White: “We needed that one, didn’t we? Wow. Huge. It was a big momentum shot for us. The guys were fired up going into the locker room and he made something out of nothing.”
Florida guard Jalen Hudson (via Chris Harry): “I guess we all underestimated those muscles popping out of his jersey.”
Auburn star Mustapha Heron: “It was a good shot, tough shot, deep shot. But that didn’t make the half. There was a lot of other things.”
