GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida did more than add recruits to the football program Wednesday.
UF has hired Virginia Tech assistant Torrian Gray to coach defensive backs, according to Thayer Evans of Sports Illustrated.
Gray, 41, brings 17 years of coaching experience in the secondary to Gainesville after spending the past 10 seasons at Virginia Tech, his alma mater. He has coached NFL defensive backs Kam Chancellor, Brandon Flowers and Kyle Fuller during his time with the Hokies.
Gray had previous stints with the Chicago Bears, Connecticut and Maine. He was born and raised in Lakeland, Fla., and is regarded as a strong recruiter.
Florida’s coaching staff is complete with the hiring of Gray, who replaces Kirk Callahan.
