Report: Former Florida DL Caleb Brantley facing misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly knocking woman unconscious
Former Florida defensive lineman Caleb Brantley is facing a misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly knocking a woman unconscious and displacing the woman’s tooth.
According to a police report obtained by Patrick Pinak of The Alligator, Brantley and the woman had gotten into an altercation after the woman pushed Brantley. The former Florida defensive tackle responded by allegedly striking the woman in the face with a closed fist. The woman was knocked unconscious and the contact dislodged the woman’s tooth.
Brantley’s response was not considered self-defense but retaliation, per the report. Per Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports, Brantley has been charged with battery for the incident, which is believed to have taken place last week.
Brantley was expected to be a second or third round pick in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft, but with this incident happening so close to the event, it could have a disastrous effect on his draft stock.
