After lying to NBC about his fiasco at the Rio Games, Ryan Lochte may soon be on the airwaves of its competitor.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell reports that Lochte is a “virtual shoo-in” to be a part of the cast in the next season of “Dancing With The Stars” on ABC.

Negotiations between Lochte and the showrunners reportedly began prior to the Olympics — thus, prior to Lochte falsely claiming that he’d been robbed and the ensuing international incident. Things proceeded “smoothly,” Rovell reports, in the week since the games. An ABC spokesperson declined to comment on the report to Rovell.
Of course, this won’t be Lochte’s first time on reality television. He had his own show, “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?”, for a season on E!.
Lochte has since recanted his claims and apologized for the incident, for what we now know was Lochte and company urinating and vandalizing a gas station in Rio de Janeiro. Lochte’s grievances led to three sponsors — Speedo, Ralph Lauren and Syneron-Candela, the parent company of Gentle Hair Removal — dropping him in one day.
The show’s 23rd season premieres Sept. 12 on ABC, while the rest of the cast is expected to be revealed Aug. 30 on “Good Morning America.”
