Coach Jim McElwain's Florida Gators have a tough test against Georgia on Saturday.

Simulations from national website give Florida strong chance of beating Georgia

So, at least one national outlet predicts Florida has a decent chance to beat Georgia.

FOXSports.com released its predictions for Week 9 action in college football. And surprisingly, the outlet gives the Gators a 52.5-percent chance of beating the Bulldogs. Here’s how FOX Sports came up with the figure: “FoxSports.com utilizes its football simulation to predict the outcome for this week’s games. Each game is simulated 501 times to generate an average score and winning percentage. The predictions use the most up-to-date stats, rosters and depth charts.”

This rivalry has produced surprising results in the past, so we’ll learn if the Gators can muster an upset Saturday in Jacksonville. Still, on paper, the task appears daunting for Florida.

After all, Georgia has risen as one of the country’s top teams during its 7-0 start. Florida, meanwhile, enters the matchup with a 3-3 record and with two consecutive losses.

If the Gators pull off the upset, FOX Sports can claim it knew the result was possible all along.
