HOOVER, Ala. — With many serious issues on the table at SEC Media Days, it’s nice to have a light-hearted discussion every now and again.
Florida coach Jim McElwain brought that to the table on Monday, when he arrived at SEC Media Days without dress socks.
Media personalities pounced quickly with jokes:

BREAKING: Jim McElwain says even his daughter's wedding will not force him to put on socks.

As he sat down to chat with the media, his lack of socks was very evident. As it turns out, it was more a matter of personal preference than a fashion statement or a lack of luggage.
He indicated he also does not plan to wear socks during his daughter’s wedding.
While it was a chance for humor, it probably was no surprise to those who follow the Gators coach closely. McElwain has never been a fan of the clothing accessory.
Here is more visual evidence of his lack of socks at a speaking event with Jimbo Fisher and Mark Richt earlier this year, as well as the coaches luncheon with Nick Saban prior to the SEC championship last season:
Would it have killed McElwain to put on some socks? Sandwiched between two class acts!! pic.twitter.com/4OrnAm3cKh

This is McElwain’s second SEC Media Days, and each time he’s parlayed his appearance into gaining the attention of the media.
In 2015, the media latched on to a video of McElwain with some serious sunburn, save for the area of his face covered by sunglasses:
