As Jim McElwain tries to rebuild Florida football into a championship program, one of his mottos is “recruit daily or die.” Join us here on SEC Country for a daily recap of the latest UF recruiting news, tales from the trail and perspective on what it all means for the Gators.
Not your average Joe
Few recruits have raised their stock in the past month as much as Joe Milton.
The 4-star quarterback from Orlando, Fla., impressed at The Opening Regional in late February and subsequently blew up as a recruit, landing offers from the likes of Florida, Georgia and Michigan.
Milton continued making headlines this past weekend, competing in the NFA 7v7 Southeast Regional tournament at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The 6-foot-5, 222-pound gunslinger not only outperformed every quarterback in the tournament, but some analysts believe Milton may have the strongest arm in the country.

Milton, the nation’s No. 12 pro-style QB in the 247Sports Composite rankings, visited UF twice in one week earlier this month and the Gators are considered the team to beat in his recruitment. He was sporting Florida gear during the tournament last weekend.
A pair of UF signees attended Florida’s Pro Day on Tuesday at the indoor practice facility.
C.J. Henderson and Marco Wilson, both 4-star cornerbacks from South Florida, were on hand to watch Teez Tabor and Quincy Wilson, Marco’s older brother, perform for NFL coaches and scouts.

Cornerback was the No. 1 need for UF in the 2017 recruiting cycle and the coaching staff is counting on some signees to contribute right away at the position. Henderson and Wilson are expected to compete for those snaps in their first year.
“There’s going to be an opportunity for those young guys who are coming in who can get a lot of playing time, whether it be at the corner position or at that nickel spot,” Gators coach Jim McElwain said Monday. “A lot of that has to do with their ability to kind of process. We’re going to find that our early.”
