The media’s SEC predictions were released Thursday, and the defending East Division champions didn’t receive much love.
Florida was picked to finish second in the division behind Tennessee, which has lost 11 straight games to the Gators.
Not only will this serve as motivation for Jim McElwain & Co., but it also puts pressure on the Vols. They haven’t been to the SEC title game since 2007, and last won the conference championship more than a decade ago (2004).
While the Vols are favored to beat UF this year and win the East, Florida’s road to Atlanta is much easier compared to Tennessee’s 2016 schedule.
Gators beat writer Zach Abolverdi discusses this topic and recaps SEC Media Days and The Opening, Nike’s annual summer camp for elite high school football recruits.
