Tim Tebow is a former Florida quarterback, a former NFL player, a Heisman Trophy winner and a professional baseball player.
Now he can add “barketologist” to the list. No joke.
In January, Pet Age relayed word that the former Gators star will be the official “barketologist” for The Purina Pro Plan $1 Million Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Bracket Challenge. The 142nd annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will take place from Feb. 12-13. Before then, fans of the big event are encouraged to visit DogShowBracket.com to “test their bracket skills for a for a chance to win prizes, including $1 million, when elite dogs from across the country compete for top honors.”
And yes, Tebow has an important role in the fun. Here’s more from Pet Age’s story:
Tebow will attempt to pick the perfect Westminster bracket alongside fans at home. To participate, fans must choose one winner from the Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting, Herding, Sporting, Working and Terrier groups, and from those winners, one overall breed they believe will win “Best In Show.” After completing the bracket, entrants can tune into the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on FS1 on February 12 at 8 p.m. EST and February 13 at 8 p.m. EST to follow their bracket in real time. If their selections match the actual winners, they could win $1 million, with the prize being split evenly among all verified winners.
Recently, Tebow spoke with SEC Country about his role as “barketologist.”
“It has been really funny, because it mixes so many things that I love,” Tebow said. “Competition with dogs, and I also love filling out brackets. I don’t have to wait for March Madness. And so just being able to team up with Purina Pro Plan for the $1 Million Bracket Challenge during the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has been pretty fun.
“I’m a huge dog fan. I grew up with so many dogs. I love them, and I truly think that they can be man’s best friend. So it has been super fun to be able to mix that with a little bit of competition.”
ESPN’s Darren Rovell passed along photos of Tebow with an adorable dog:

This is the third year of the bracket challenge, and you can be sure Tebow’s involvement in the event will gain attention. But beyond the challenge itself, this goes to show how likable Tebow can be. Really, how can you not respect a guy who loves dogs?
Best of luck to everyone who participates in the barketology. May it be a woof-onderful experience.
Tebow’s interview was made possible by Purina Pro Plan, which is partnering with the former Florida quarterback by making him the “barketologist” of the Purina Pro Plan $1 Million Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Bracket Challenge.
