TV viewing guide: Which teams Florida should root for this weekend
Florida still needs help in order to get into the Playoff, and the Gators could get it this week.
The Gators have an easy matchup this Saturday against Florida Atlantic, which should be considered a tune-up game for their Nov. 28 showdown with Florida State.
Florida could see itself jump up a couple of spots in the next Playoff rankings if things go its way this weekend.
With that being said, here are the teams Gators fans should root for this weekend:
No. 9 Michigan State at No. 3 Ohio State (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC)
Not only does this game give Florida fans an opportunity to cheer against Urban Meyer, but this game would help Florida’s chances of being named one of the final four teams at the end of the season. Michigan State’s schedule this season was weak. The only quality win the Spartans have right now is against Michigan. This would give them another quality win. If Florida was to beat Alabama in the SEC championship game — if the Crimson Tide were to get there — one would think the committee would favor the SEC champion with the better body of work.
No. 10 Baylor at No. 6 Oklahoma State (7:30 p.m. ET, Fox)
The more teams with one loss, the better it is for Florida. That’s why the Gators should cheer for Baylor in this matchup. Oklahoma State is undefeated right now, and a loss here would hurt because the Big 12 is dumb and doesn’t have a conference championship. Also, if the Cowboys were to lose in this game, it would set up a battle against Oklahoma. The loser of that game would surely be out of Playoff consideration.
No. 18 TCU at No. 7 Oklahoma (8 p.m. ET, ABC)
Oklahoma already has one loss. Another loss would almost assuredly knock it out of any Playoff talk. I don’t think the committee is going to put in a two-loss Oklahoma team if there are multiple teams with one loss ahead of them.
Other games to keep an eye on: Wake Forest at No. 1 Clemson; Charleston Southern at No. 2 Alabama; Boston College at No. 4 Notre Dame; Purdue at No. 5 Iowa;
