ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida football team was beat up in more ways than one Friday.
In addition to the 41-7 “rump-kicking” by Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, two key UF defenders suffered injuries during the game and did not return.
Linebacker Jarrad Davis suffered a concussion after delivering a hard hit, while defensive end CeCe Jefferson injured his left leg. Tight end Jake McGee (leg) and kicker Austin Hardin (ankle) also missed the game.
Jefferson was in a boot after the game, but he and Davis were both in good spirits.
McElwain did not give an indication that their injuries were serious when asked about them.
“They’re hurt,” McElwain said. “CeCe blew a wheel and Jarrad got his eggs scrambled, man.”
