GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The injuries keep coming for this Florida football team.
After having five starters hurt at Arkansas, the Gators lost three more on Saturday in the first quarter against South Carolina. Center Tyler Jordan (right ankle) was injured on Florida’s first play from scrimmage and left the game.
A few drives later, safety Marcus Maye suffered an arm injury while trying to make a tackle. He was examined on the sideline and then carted off the field.
As he was down on the South Carolina sideline, Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp — who recruited Maye to UF — stood over him for almost a minute to make sure he was OK. Maye was replaced in the starting lineup by Marcell Harris.
On the ensuing possession, left tackle David Sharpe appeared to injure his right tackle and was taken to the locker room. Left guard Martez Ivey slid over to tackle and Kavaris Harkless was inserted at guard.
