GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida coach Jim McElwain had mentioned earlier on the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday that injured starting quarterback Luke Del Rio has been engaged in preparations with the other quarterbacks and will travel with the team to Tennessee.
That prompted a fair question from a reporter during his evening news conference, looking to confirm that there’s no chance Del Rio would possibly play Saturday.
McElwain laughed off the question while providing no further insight into Del Rio’s recovery from his knee injury or timeline for potentially returning. You can see his full response in the video below.
Aside from that and an encouraging injury update on star wide receiver Antonio Callaway (quad), McElwain mostly talked about the rivalry with Tennessee and Florida’s 11-game winning streak in the series.
