GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Under Armour All-American wide receiver Daquon Green (Tampa, Fla.) was one of six commits who officially visited Florida this weekend, but more potential pledges were on campus as well.
Green feels confident about Florida’s chances with those targets, but three in particular.
“I think we have a good chance of pulling them all,” said Green. “I think Nick Smith and T.J. Slaton were having the best time. I think we get Chris Henderson, too. They need to make that move.”
Green made that move almost 18 months ago and has taken several visits to UF since then. However, this weekend he was able to spend multiple days on campus.
“I would rate the visit a 20 on a scale of 1-10,” Green said. “The official was real good. The only thing really new was that we hung out with the players more. They were telling us what it was like to wear those colors. My host was (WR) Josh Hammond and it was real good getting to hang out with him.
“He said it’s not hard to get used to being in college and that the big thing is keeping your head on straight. I was picking up some of the things he was telling me. He said there are a lot of expectations and if you do what you have to do, the playing time will be there.”
Green and the other visitors had Sunday brunch at Jim McElwain’s house. The 4-star wideout also spent time with offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and receivers coach Kerry Dixon II during his trip.
“We fed some horses that were in Coach Mac’s neighborhood and we got to tour his place,” Green said. “He was at the house taking care of everyone. He had cooks over there and make french toast casserole and some eggs with cheese and bacon in it.”
“The coaches are just real pumped up to get us there. They did 1-on-1 visits with us and showed us their scheme, the plays they run and how we fit in. We are coming in hoping to do a lot for Florida. They said I can fit all the roles out wide and they rotate a lot of guys. They aren’t scared to play freshmen, so I know I will have my time to shine.”

Green plans to officially visit Tennessee next weekend, but said he’s solid to the Gators.
“I’m just going to see what everyone has been talking about because I hear it’s a nice place,” Green said of Rocky Top. “I just want to go and check it out.”
