Wisconsin guard Zack Showalter’s 3-pointer and ensuing taunt with 3 seconds remaining against Florida could have been the most memorable moments in the 2017 NCAA tournament.
Instead, it’s another case of premature celebration.

Showalter’s off-balance 3-point field goal tied the game at 72 with under 3 seconds left in regulation. After the shot, he turned to the crowd and did the State Farm Discount Double-Check celebration, made popular by Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The announcers, in fact, said Showalter turned to Rodgers (apparently in the stands) for the celebration.

Florida’s full-court pass in regulation fell into Wisconsin’s hands, and in overtime, it appeared as if the Badgers would have a relatively comfortable win.
However, the Gators answered. Trailing by 5 with under a minute to go, Florida tied the game after Canyon Barry’s incredible block on Nigel Hayes.
Of course, you know the rest. Chris Chiozza’s incredible 3-point field goal — as off balance as Showalter’s — sent the Gators to the Elite 8 and crushed Wisconsin’s dreams.
But maybe there’s a State Farm sponsorship in the works for Showalter.
