The Georgia Bulldogs, ranked No. 5 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, defeated Mississippi State 41-21 on Saturday. The win moved Georgia to 8-1 on the 2025 college football season and kept the Bulldogs in position to make a run at the College Football Playoff and possibly win their third national championship since 2021 and fifth in program history.
Georgia has been playing football since 1892, when the team won its first game against Mercer, 50-0, on Jan. 30 of that year. It is one of the most established programs in the history of college football.
Saturday’s victory over Mississippi State not only pushed Georgia to 8-1 but also marked the program’s 900th all-time win. The Bulldogs are now just the ninth team in Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) history to reach that number.

Georgia has claimed four recognized national championships and 15 Southeastern Conference (SEC) titles since joining the league in 1933.

With 900 wins behind them and the playoff still in sight, Georgia continues to add to a record that shows no sign of slowing.
