Georgia football 2026 spring game gets update amid rumors

Georgia football fans can officially circle a date on the calendar. The Bulldogs have set their annual G-Day spring game for Saturday, April 18th, marking the conclusion of the team’s spring practice schedule. UGASports.com first reported the date.

The scrimmage will take place inside Sanford Stadium and will serve as the program’s final spring practice, giving fans their first in-person look at Georgia’s 2026 roster.

According to UGASports.com, Georgia will begin spring practice on March 17 and hold 15 practices over five weeks, typically working on a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday rotation.

The Bulldogs will also hold additional spring scrimmages on April 4th and April 11th before G-Day caps the offseason slate.

Details about the format or television coverage have not yet been announced and could depend on roster health and availability.

There had been doubts that UGA would host a spring game in 2026. Earlier this offseason, AD Josh Brooks gave a non-committal “we’ll see” when asked if the Dawgs would host one.

Recent national trends put Georgia’s spring game into doubt as several major programs scaled back or eliminated public spring scrimmages amid transfer portal tampering concerns and injury risks. With coaches increasingly wary of exposing young talent and schemes, speculation grew that Georgia could follow the same path before ultimately confirming G-Day would continue.

The spring game will provide an early glimpse at returning standouts like quarterback Gunner Stockton, running back Nate Frazier, safety KJ Bolden and cornerback Ellis Robinson IV as Georgia begins preparations for another championship push.

Georgia is coming off another strong season that included an SEC title and College Football Playoff appearance, and the upcoming spring will help determine how the Bulldogs replace several departing NFL Draft entrants and integrate transfers and early enrollees.
