Georgia Legend Brock Bowers Passes Travis Kelce for NFL History

Georgia football legend Brock Bowers, a two-time College Football Playoff national champion, is absolutely tearing it up in his second season with the Las Vegas Raiders despite missing multiple games with a knee injury. Bowers now has 32 receptions for 383 yards and three touchdowns, including a monster 12-catch, 127-yard, three-touchdown game against the Jaguars.

Bowers, the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, recorded 1,194 yards a season ago as a rookie to go along with five touchdown catches.

Through his first two seasons, Bowers now has 21 catches of 20 or more yards — a stat the Raiders highlighted Thursday night during their 10-7 loss to the Denver Broncos. It also moves him past Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. I wrote a really stupid article years ago saying Taylor Swift was dating the wrong tight end and that she should remember the name Brock Bowers.

“With that 31-yard reception, TE Brock Bowers (@brockbowers17) has passed Travis Kelce (20), Rob Gronkowski (20), and Kellen Winslow (20) and tied Jeremy Shockey (21) for the most receptions of 20+ yards by a tight end in their first 23 career games since 2000,” Raiders PR posted on X.

At Georgia, Bowers will go down as one of the greatest players in program history. In my opinion — and come at me in the comments if you want to — he’s the second-best player ever in UGA history. Without Bowers, I can almost guarantee Georgia doesn’t win those two national titles. Yeah, the 2021 defense was elite and Stetson Bennett was a baller, but Bowers made some massive plays at critical times.

He finished his college career with 175 catches for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns, adding 193 rushing yards and five more scores on the ground. His most complete year came in 2022 when he totaled over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and helped lead Georgia to another national championship. Even after missing time in 2023 due to injury, Bowers still produced 714 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns in just 10 games. Across 40 career appearances, he stacked up 2,731 total yards and 31 touchdowns, leaving Georgia as one of the most accomplished players in program history.
