No. 5 Georgia (8-1, 6-1 SEC) is set to host a massive recruiting weekend during the Bulldogs’ Top 10 SEC battle against No. 10 Texas (7-2, 4-1 SEC) on Saturday night.
There’s set to be a loaded group of 2027 targets that are attending this weekend’s game, but the Bulldogs may have a chance to build their lead for one of their top defensive targets in next year’s class.

Georgia appears to be the early leader for four-star linebacker Ja’Bios Smith, according to Steve Wiltfong of Rivals. Smith is set to take an unofficial visit this weekend. It’ll be his third visit to Athens this season. He most recently attended the Ole Miss game on Oct. 18 and was also in attendance for Georgia’s season opener against Marshall.
Smith is the No. 98 overall prospect and No. 5 linebacker in the class of 2027. He ranks as the No. 1 linebacker and No. 15 player in the state of Georgia, according to the Rivals Industry ranking.
Smith put together a breakout season as a sophomore, finishing with 88 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, and three forced fumbles. He also saw time at running back, rushing for over 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns over the past three seasons.
After his visit last month, Smith spoke highly of Georgia and named the Bulldogs one of the front-runners in his recruitment.
“They are doing everything right in my opinion, and I’ve been up there a few times, so obviously I consider them one of the front-runners right now,” Smith said.
Kickoff for the huge SEC battle between Georgia and Texas is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The Bulldogs are currently 6.5-point favorites over the Longhorns, according to ESPN BET.
