Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart have turned their focus to roster management for the 2026 season. This includes keeping the young guys that made up 54 percent of its roster this past season. The majority of the roster consisted of players who had been at the college level for just one or two seasons.
One such player is running back Nate Frazier, who just finished his second season at Georgia. There had been some speculation about Frazier entering the transfer portal. Even rumors of him going to Ohio State. This came after reports that no NIL deal had been signed, prompting speculation among fans that Frazier might be heading elsewhere.

On Monday, the Dawgs got the news they were hoping for: ESPN’s Pete Thamel announced that Frazier has signed a new deal to return to Athens in 2026.
Frazier was rated by 247Sports’ Composite as a 4-star recruit coming out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He was the No. 49 overall recruit and No. 2 running back.
According to Sports-Reference, in 2025, Frazier carried the ball 173 times for 947 yards (5.5 yards per carry) and 6 touchdowns. He added 16 catches for 116 yards and 1 touchdown. Over his career at Georgia has totaled 334 touches for 1,819 yards (5.4 yards per touch) and 15 touchdowns.
Getting Frazier back is huge for the Bulldogs, who were No. 35 in the nation in rushing. This is an improvement over being No. 105 in the nation in rushing in 2024. Frazier was a big part of that production and change. Georgia’s running game would have missed his dynamic running ability. According to CFBstats, he led the team with 21 carries of 10 or more yards and 7 carries of 20 or more yards.
Simply put, Frazier is a game-breaker that Georgia simply could not afford to lose. With him and Chauncey Bowens returning, the Dawgs’ running attack will be the best in the SEC, possibly the nation.
