Georgia adds former 4-star recruit via transfer portal

The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart have turned their attention to roster management in 2026. Retaining talent from the 2025 roster and acquiring talent from the transfer portal have been their focus. For the most part, the Dawgs have made it a point to keep talent in-house, but they have added a few pieces from outside the 2025 roster. That’s why On3 has Georgia’s transfer portal additions as its No. 47-ranked class. Georgia ranks No. 30 in the nation, per 247 Sports.

One spot UGA has concentrated on adding talent has been in the secondary. On Tuesday, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Georgia added Gentry Williams, a defensive back who played at Oklahoma last season.

Williams stands 6-foot and weighs 170 pounds. He runs a 4.3 40. He will be a senior in 2026. According to 247Sports, he was rated as a 4-star recruit coming out of Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the No. 93 overall recruit, No. 11 cornerback and No. 1 recruit in Oklahoma.

According to Sports-Reference, Williams played just 8 games over the last 2 seasons, totaling 10 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 2 pass breakups. In 2024, he only played in two games due to a season-ending injury.

Over the course of his career, Williams has 47 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 4 interceptions.

After losing Daniel Harris and Joenel Aguero in the transfer portal, Georgia was in dire need of defensive backs.

The transfer portal is set to close on January 16. I doubt that Williams will be the last player Georgia adds, but that remains to be seen.
