It’s a five-team race for Malik Herring.
The 4-star defensive end from Mary Persons High School (Forsyth, Ga.) released his top five on Monday, and three SEC teams made the cut. Georgia, Alabama and LSU are left fighting for the nation’s No. 4 strong-side defensive end’s services, along with Clemson and Southern Cal.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive end holds 29 reported offers. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 4 strong-side defensive end, the country’s No. 98 overall player and the state of Georgia’s No. 10 prospect.
Georgia is the presumed leader for Herring’s services, and DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell recently wrote that he may be “the most committed undecided prospect in America.”
Herring plans on making his commitment in August.
“That date in August I have set is my auntie’s birthday,” Herring told Sentell. “My aunt was such a special woman. She passed away from breast cancer and was such a big part of my life. I really want to do it on that day.”
