The wait for one of the top linebackers in the country is over.
Breon Dixon, a 4-star linebacker from Peachtree Ridge High School (Suwanee, Ga.), was personally given a scholarship offer from new UGA coach Kirby Smart Saturday night, as he told SEC Country.
Mark Richt and his old coaching staff at UGA didn’t offer Dixon because they were unsure of which position he would play at the next level.
“They are just keeping their eyes on me to see how I’m going to do this season,” Dixon told SEC Country in August. “They are just waiting to see how my body is going to fill out to be — either strong safety or linebacker.”
It turns out, Dixon had one of the best seasons by any defensive player in the state of Georgia. He finished the 2015 season with 42 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries, two touchdowns and one safety, according to MaxPreps. As you can see, Dixon loaded up the stat sheet in his junior year.
The UGA offer becomes Dixon’s 21st offer.
