The Forsyth, Ga.- product is the seventh best weakside defensive end in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He is the 12th best prospect from Georgia. 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction currently projects him choosing Georgia over Florida State. Florida State did not make his top seven in the announcement he made on Twitter on Sunday.
Herring recorded 74 tackles, 21 for a loss and seven sacks for Mary Persons High School last year.
He was one of the players who appeared at Orange Carpet Day at Tennessee. The Volunteers made his list along with Alabama and LSU from the SEC. Middle Tennessee State, Clemson and USC are the other teams on his top-seven list.
