Talley and the Bulldogs topped the Gators on that November 1989 day by a 17-10 score at the Gator Bowl. UF was ranked No. 20 at the time and the win helped Georgia and coach Ray Goff to a 6-6 season.
Florida finished that season 7-5, but had changed coaches earlier in the season. New coach Gary Darnell replaced Galen Hall after five games and lost four of the last five games that year.
In 1990, a former UF quarterback named Steve Spurrier took over the program.
