The UGA recruit with the “G” tattoo might switch his commitment from the Bulldogs to another school as early as this weekend.
Mark Richt, the former UGA coach who is now at Miami, made an in-home visit on Tuesday night with Randrecous Davis. He’s a 3-star receiver from Mays High School who committed to the Bulldogs last summer –- when Richt was still UGA’s head coach.
“I tell everybody one of the main reasons he committed to UGA was Mark Richt — and it wouldn’t shock me if he went ahead and de-committed from Georgia, and then committed to Miami,” Mays coach Corey Jarvis told SEC Country.
“Coach Richt had a good home visit. (Richt’s) main message to Randrecous was that he really likes him. When Coach Richt took the job down there, they called and told him if things don’t work out at Georgia, would he be interested in Miami? Randrecous told them yes. And the second part now is that (former UGA running backs coach and new Miami co-offensive coordinator) Thomas Brown and Randrecous have established a good relationship.
“It’s putting the right thoughts about Miami into his mind that it might need to be the place he needs to be.”
What about UGA? It appears that Bulldogs staff under new coach Kirby Smart are targeting other prospects.
“The coaches over at Georgia haven’t gotten in touch with Randrecous and let him know where he stands,” Jarvis said. “He is kind of feeling that Georgia has probably moved on from him basically without telling him or me.
“I haven’t heard from anyone from UGA, and neither has Randrecous. When Kirby first took the job, he sent (Brown) over (while he was still an UGA assistant). Thomas came over and told him that he still had an offer. But when Thomas left and went to Miami, we haven’t heard from any coaches. And I think Randrecous sent a tweet to the new offensive coordinator, and he hasn’t heard a response yet. I think that was two weeks ago.
“So that’s where he is right now.”
Davis is scheduled to take an official visit to Miami and South Carolina over the next two weekends.
