It was another week and another loss for the Georgia Bulldogs, but this time the Dawgs dropped in the SEC Country Power Poll.
Georgia fell to Florida 24-10 in the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. With the defeat, Georgia dropped from ninth to 10th in the SEC Country Power Poll. The Bulldogs held the ninth spot for four consecutive weeks before the drop.
The poll consists of 26 voters, including ones from SEC Country and around the nation.
The loss took away any outside shot Georgia may have had to make it to the SEC Championship Game. Florida continues to control its own fate in the SEC East.
The Bulldogs started the WLOCP with a bang. Defensive back Dominick Sanders intercepted Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio on the fourth play from scrimmage and returned it to the Gator 25. A touchdown appeared imminent when Georgia got all the way to the 2, but a false start bumped it back, and the Bulldogs settled for a field goal.
The problems for Georgia’s offense continued throughout the day. The Georgia backfield — hailed as one of the best in the country at times this season — managed only 21 yards rushing. Jacob Eason chipped in with 143 yards and a touchdown through the air, but that still only makes 164 yards of total offense.
With the win, Florida moved up two places, from sixth to fourth, in the SEC Country Power Poll.
Next week Georgia travels to Lexington, Ky., where it will face the second-place team in the SEC East and the eighth-place team in the SEC Country Power Poll, the Kentucky Wildcats.
