UGA escaped with 23-17 overtime win against Georgia Southern on Saturday night.
Sony Michel ran for a 25-yard touchdown on UGA’s first offensive play of overtime for the winning score. Georgia Southern had the ball first, but was stopped on downs after failing to convert on fourth-and-1 from the UGA 15. The Eagles decided against trying for a field goal.
It was a rough day for the SEC East as South Carolina was upset by The Citadel, and SEC East champion Florida needed overtime to beat Florida Atlantic.
