UGA freshman quarterback Jacob Eason was appreciative of each and every one of the 93,000 fans who crammed into Sanford Stadium for Saturday’s spring game.
Although he didn’t speak to the media following Saturday’s game, Eason thanked the fans for showing up in droves on Twitter Saturday evening.

Eason repaid the fans’ loyalty by giving them something to smile about as they left the stadium. Eason was dazzling in his Bulldogs debut, albeit against his own team, completing 19 of 29 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown during the scrimmage.
The fans who witnessed Eason’s performance live might think he’s the best quarterback on the depth chart. But first-year coach Kirby Smart wasn’t handing over the starting job after one scrimmage.
“To me, (Eason) was 60-something percent, Brice was 60-something percent, and Greyson had two drops and one bad decision, but he was right at 50 percent with a couple drops,” Smart said after the game. “So for people to say that, maybe they should go to coaching 101.
“Because I don’t see that being the case. What I see going into fall camp is three guys that have three different traits. And all three of them have got some growing to do.”
The 93,000 fans Smart asked to attend Saturday’s game might disagree.
