If Georgia fans were a little anxious about how the offense may look under new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, this may help put them at ease.
While attending a satellite camp in Atlanta – the same one to which Jim Harbaugh wore some eye-catching attire – Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi complimented his former assistant while speaking with reporters, according to Dan Mathews of Gridiron Now.
“He’s a great football coach,” Narduzzi said at the camp, according to Mathews. “He’s a great offensive coordinator, and Georgia’s fan base better be fired up to have him as their offensive coordinator. You’ll see a tough, physical and aggressive offense.”
But if that doesn’t have Bulldogs fans quite convinced, this next Narduzzi quote may do the trick.
“Jim Chaney’s brilliant.”
Chaney will begin his first season in Athens after he was hired by Georgia in December. In his lone season with Pitt, the Panthers’ offense averaged 377.5 yards per game (No. 81 among FBS teams) and 28.2 points per game (No. 68). By comparison, the Bulldogs’ offense averaged 375.5 yards per game (No. 83) and 26.3 points per game (No. 85) under former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
