Sometimes, football has as much to do with luck as it does with skill. Georgia hasn’t been especially fortunate this season, but the Bulldogs did catch a nice break during Saturday’s homecoming game against Vanderbilt.
Trailing 7-3 in the early second quarter, freshman quarterback Jacob Eason was targeting tight end Isaac Nauta when he unleashed an absolute bullet on 3rd and 15. The pass deflected off Nauta, who had three Commodores defenders in his vicinity, before floating behind them and into the waiting arms of Georgia wideout Riley Ridley.
The play resulted in another 3 points for the Bulldogs in what has been a tight game early. If things remain close until the end, this fluky play might receive more discussion.
Ridley, a freshman and the younger brother of Alabama’s Calvin Ridley, currently leads UGA with 2 catches for 42 yards.
