5-star guard Ashton Hagans announced his commitment to Kentucky on Tuesday, giving the Wildcats their second bluechip prospect in as many days.
Hagans was equally excited after making the pledge, telling Gabriel Stovall of CovNews Sports, “It’s what I’ve been waiting on.”

“I’ve been working hard, getting up at 6 a.m. and getting up shots,” Hagans said in the video. “This is where I want to be. Me and my family have been talking about it and this is what we’ve been working to get to.”
Hagans joins 2018 5-star power forward E.J. Montgomery as elite commitments for the Wildcats this week. While Hagans is currently in the 2019 class, he could end up reclassifying to 2018 and helping UK as soon as next season.
Listed at 6-foot-4 from Covington, Ga, he’s currently the No. 1 point guard in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Hagans would be similarly ranked among the 2018 class, should he go forward with reclassifying.
“(Kentucky) is my dream school and I feel like I can get the job done there,” he told 247Sports.
Coach John Calipari was clearly very excited about the additions Tuesday afternoon — Big Blue Nation was treated to the return of “Swaggy Cal:”
#BBN, have you enjoyed breakfast the last couple days? We like to be transparent at Kentucky, but let me say this: No one truly knows what we are doing until it’s done. Finished yet?
