NASHVILLE, Tenn. – More high praise for Kentucky at SEC Media Day, where Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said Tuesday that John Calipari might have “another Karl Towns-type team” on his hands.
“Like, we beat Kentucky last year at Auburn – it was a great win for our program – but that was not one of John’s better teams. It just wasn’t,” Pearl said. “This has got a chance to be one of his better teams.”
Three of the Wildcats’ five 5-star freshmen made the media’s preseason All-SEC teams: point guard De’Aaron Fox and forward Bam Adebayo on the first team, shooting guard Malik Monk on the second team along with sophomore guard Isaiah Briscoe.
“When Kentucky is good, the rest of us benefit tremendously,” Pearl said. “But we need a couple more programs to step up on a national level for the league to be what it needs to be.”
There’s been lots of talk about that today, like this from South Carolina coach Frank Martin, and much more coming. Stay tuned for wall-to-wall coverage here at SEC Country.
