Crucial four-game stretch looms for Kentucky
The Kentucky Wildcats are looking up at the only team — Florida — to defeat them this season.
Kentucky’s only loss came to Florida nearly a month ago, but the Wildcats must now prepare for a tough four-game stretch against Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee and UGA.
“I have seen the focus,” coach Mark Stoops said this week. “What I am talking about there is not just physical, but the mental focus that goes into it. You have to be sharp. Yes, I think we are much better in that area. No coach is going to be completely content with where you are at in that area or any area, but we are getting better. I really liked it over the last week and a half.”
While none of Kentucky’s next four opponents currently sit in the AP Top 25, each has been at times this season.
And the Wildcats surely remember what happened last year, when they were 5-1 only to lose their final six games — including games to Mississippi State, UGA and Tennessee — to finish 5-7.
Kentucky hosts Auburn Thursday before facing Mississippi State (Oct. 24), Tennessee (Oct. 31) and UGA (Nov. 7).
