Brad Calipari will get to see how he stacks up against some professional talent overseas when he travels to Croatia next week on an eight-day basketball trip.
The sophomore, who walked on to the team at Kentucky before the 2016-17 season to play for his father, will be among 14 collegiate players from 13 schools who will make up the Global Sports Academy roster. Coaching the team will be Bucknell assistant coach Joe Meehan.
According to UKathletics.com, Calipari and his temporary teammates will leave on Monday, where they’ll play against four pro teams from Croatia: Zadar, Sibenik, Kastela and Split.
He and the squad also will attend cultural events and visit historic sites.
As a freshman, Calipari appeared in 15 games — 12 of which came in the first 15 contests — and recorded a total of 8 points, 3 rebounds and a pair of 3-pointers.
Global Sports Academy was established in 1991 to organize international sporting events such as these, pitting equally matched teams at all competitive levels.
