John Calipari has built a NBA powerhouse program in Kentucky in the last few years. The Wildcats have sent waves of players to the NBA Draft in recent years — mostly freshmen from Calipari’s most recent recruiting classes.
This year is no different and Calipari will have a lot of people to be with and support.
He is also one of the biggest names in the college basketball world and has deep NBA connections. He can provide a great insight into the Draft and the Draft process. No college coach is more known to the NBA fan base.
It makes perfect sense then that Calipari will be a big part of ESPN’s NBA Draft coverage Thursday.
ESPN announced Calipari will do the ESPN “car wash” on Thursday, joining Mike and Mike, First Take, SportsCenter (in the 11 a.m. hour) and Highly Questionable at 4:30 p.m. It is then very likely he will trek down from Bristol, Conn., to Brooklyn, N.Y., for the Draft itself.
Kentucky is expected to have two players taken in the first round — Jamal Murray and Skal Labissiere. Tyler Ulis could be taken in the first round too.
In addition to Calipari, Mike and Mike will also welcome NBA Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns on the show too.
It will be a very blue day in Bristol for the NBA Draft on Thursday.
