Marquez Bembry’s story isn’t an original tale, but Kentucky hopes this junior college transfer will pan out.
He originally was a member of Tennessee’s Class of 2017 but didn’t academically qualify. After a year at Jones County Junior College in Mississippi, the Wildcats hope he’s an under-the-radar steal with a year of experience under his belt.

Bembry’s other offers were from Colorado, Ole Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette, according to 247Sports.
At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Tennessee initially recruited him to play defensive end. He also tore the ACL and meniscus in his right knee during his senior season at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School in Atlanta.
He was previously ranked as the No. 39 athlete in 247Sports’ 2017 class.
