Kentucky fans don’t need to be reminded of the team’s 38-0 start in the 2014-15 season that ended in the Final Four, but Gatorade decided to do it anyway.
In a Gatorade commercial called “The Secret to Victory” released on Tuesday, several greats across various sports share defining failures that they used as motivation.
Former Wildcats standout Karl-Anthony Towns makes his appearance at the 0:23 mark of the video below.
Towns is seen at his locker with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team that drafted him with the top pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, with a newspaper headline that reads “38 & Done.”
He then says, “Take a perfect team and blow a perfect season.” That Kentucky team eventually fell to Wisconsin, 71-64, in the Final Four. The Badgers ended up losing to Duke in the national championship game.
Michael Jordan starts things off before Peyton Manning and Eli Manning both come on shortly after. Peyton mentions going 3-13 in his rookie season with the Indianapolis Colts, and Eli points at leading the NFL in interceptions.
