Two Kentucky players, senior Luke Heyer and junior Kole Cottam, were named first-team All-SEC in a vote by league coaches, the SEC announced Monday.
Heyer was named first-team designated hitter/utility player and Cottam was named the first-team first baseman. Heyer and Cottam shared the league lead with 18 home runs.
Heyer was Kentucky’s most powerful bat this season, ranking 8th nationally in home runs and 14th in slugging percentage. The Lithia, Fla., native led the SEC in home runs (18), RBI (57) and total bases (140).
Cottam, from Knoxville, Tenn., led Kentucky with a .346 batting average. He ranked top-5 in the SEC in home runs, doubles, RBI, total bases and slugging percentage.
Kentucky (34-21, 13-17) lost four out of its last five games to end the season. The Wildcats were swept at Vanderbilt in their last regular season series.
Kentucky is the No. 10 seed in the SEC Tournament, and the Cats will face No. 7 seed Auburn at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday in Hoover, Ala.
