John Calipari will receive a notable honor.
On Wednesday, it was announced in a Kentucky release that the Wildcats basketball coach will receive the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Metropolitan Award in April.
Former college basketball coaching greats such as John Wooden, Dean Smith and Phog Allen have been winners of the award, which will be presented to Calipari at the annual NABC Guardians of the Game Awards show on April 1 in San Antonio, the site of the Final Four. Nike presents the award, which began in New York City and was first given to then-City College of New York coach Nat Holman in 1941.

Kentucky is 21-10 this season. The Wildcats will next play in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday in St. Louis against either Missouri, Vanderbilt or Georgia.
