Kentucky guard Malik Monk went crazy against no.7 North Carolina on Saturday, breaking the school’s freshman scoring record with 47 points in a 103-100 Wildcat victory. For that effort, Monk has been named the SEC player of the week:

Monk’s performance was one of the most impressive in recent college basketball history, freshman or no. The guard from Bentonville, Ark. has always been known more for his high-flying dunks that his ability to shoot the basketball, but he showed on Saturday that there is more to his game than his vertical leap.
Monk went 18-of-28 from the field, including 8 three-pointers. He even nailed a go-ahead three in the final minute:

Just a ridiculous performance, and more than worthy of the conference’s player of the week award.
