Kentucky basketball set for massive recruiting weekend
Big Blue Madness is nearly here, which means two things:
- Kentucky fans will get their first look at the new squad, and
- The team will host its single-most important recruiting weekend of the year.
Several high school stars will be in attendance on Friday night when Kentucky shows off its men’s and women’s basketball teams to the student body.
“This is Kentucky’s biggest recruiting weekend year after year,” Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels told Courier-Journal.com‘s Kyle Tucker. “They get to kind of show off the fanfare and the bells and whistles of the program.”
Coach John Calipari will be hosting a 5-star-studded group that includes De’Aaron Fox (Scout.com’s No. 1 point guard), Malik Monk (No. 1 shooting guard) and Harry Giles (No. 1 power forward).
“I think they’re probably the favorite to end up with the No. 1 class,” Daniels told Tucker. “If they get two of those guys – at least one of De’Aaron Fox and Malik Mond and one of those big guys, I think they’ll be in play for it.”
The guest list is also expected to include center Edrice Adebayo (Scout.com’s No. 15 overall prospect), center Jarrett Allen (No. 16), guard Kobi Simmons (No. 18), guard Rawle Atkins (No. 20).
