Kentucky football: Five Austin Peay players suspended for Saturday’s game
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Austin Peay was already facing a near-impossible task on Saturday to upset Kentucky. Now the Governors will be shorthanded.
Five Austin Peay players did not make the trip to Lexington for violating team rules, an Austin Peay spokesperson said. It’s unclear what side the ball the suspended players are on or whether or not they were key contributors.
Austin Peay (0-10), an FCS team, hasn’t won a game in more than two years. The Governors are coming off a 37-point loss last weekend to Eastern Kentucky.
Kentucky and Austin Peay kick off at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Commonwealth Stadium. Kentucky’s seniors will be honored before the game.
The Wildcats can clinch bowl eligibility with a win.
