Kentucky secured its second running back signature in the 2018 class as 3-star prospect Kavosiey Smoke signed with the Wildcats on National Signing Day.
The Wetumpka, Ala., native is the 46th-ranked athlete and the 575th overall prospect in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s listed as an athlete, but Kentucky recruited Smoke as a running back.
Smoke and 3-star signee Chris Rodriguez are the two running backs who signed with Kentucky. Both will have an opportunity for playing time behind starter Benny Snell and second-team back Sihiem King. Sophomore A.J. Rose is the other running back option in Eddie Gran’s offense.
Smoke, at 6-foot and 215 pounds, held offers from Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Connecticut and Florida Atlantic.
Kentucky’s 2018 class is ranked 36th overall and 11th in the SEC, according to 247Sports.
