LEXINGTON, Ky. — In the spirit of Christmas, it’s time to take an early peek at what’s inside the TaxSlayer Bowl gift bag for Kentucky and Georgia Tech players.
The SportsBusiness Journal released its annual list of bowl gifts and Jacksonville’s TaxSlayer Bowl has at least one unique present.
The Wildcats and Yellow Jackets kick off at 11 a.m. ET on Dec. 31 at EverBank Field. We ranked the best gifts they’ll receive prior to the game.
4. Carry-on bag
Practical but not flashy. Everyone can use another bag, but it’s not the kind of gift you’ll get wide-eyed over.
Kentucky players went their separate ways for the break before they meet up in Jacksonville on Christmas, and it looks like the bags already have been put to good use. If indeed these are the bags, and it looks that way from the tags, it’s an early gift for the Wildcats.

3. Under Armour sunglasses
Just in time for the Florida sunshine. The glasses are a nice addition to the gift package, but they’re far from the featured item. Like the bags, the sunglasses check the practicality box but perhaps with a little more pop.
Quick research on Under Armour sunglasses reveals that they range from $65-$160.
2. Fossil watch
So by this point the return charter from Jacksonville to Lexington will feature a plane load of blue-clad men wearing matching Under Armour sunglasses and Fossil watches, all while rolling new carry-on bags.
Things could be worse.
The Fossil watches could be nice fashion statements, but again, we’ve got to know what the players will be working with. Metal or leather bands? Smart watches or traditional time-telling accessories? Both important questions.
These watches could range from $95 on the low spectrum all the way to a $315 touch screen smart watch.
1. Personalized bobbleheads
Money can’t always buy happiness.
Perhaps the cheapest item in the gift bag will be the most appreciated: personalized bobbleheads with the player’s face, name and uniform number. How cool is that?
Kentucky and Georgia Tech players will join the revered group of athletes to have been depicted in bobblehead form.
Go to any mall in America and you’ll find a luggage store, sunglasses shop and watch store. I’m not sure if there’s a build-your-own-bobblehead establishment, but what a place it would be.
